I am delighted to have the opportunity to invite the international community to Victoria University in Melbourne for the 2007 International Conference on Engineering and Education Research - iCEER 2007. This will be the first time ever that the iNEER Network will assemble in Australia. Victoria University views this development as of great significance in our globalized world - in particular, given the crucial need to promote progress through international cooperation.
On behalf of the iNEER Network and the iCEER 2007 Organizing Committee, I welcome you to Melbourne - the World’s Most Liveable City (The Economist 2004) for the iCEER 2007. From state-of-the-art facilities to client focused professional services you will discover that business is a pleasure in Melbourne. So, please consider iCEER 2007 as the place for your next key presentation and the place to network with people in the fields of engineering, education and research.
In keeping with the focus of iCEER on information dissemination and exchange, this year’s conference will emphasize the dissemination of information on state-of-the-art advances in education and research, especially new approaches that link the two activities in addressing the education goals of young engineers of the 21st century. This is reflected in the 2007 conference theme “Innovations in Information and Communication Technologies”. Major topics will include e-learning, problem and project based learning, government policies, partnership and collaboration, curriculum development and delivery, industry and community engagement, accreditation, assessment, globalization, integrated and flexible learning and innovations in Engineering Education. We would like to welcome you to share your achievements in the fields of engineering education, research and international collaboration whilst experiencing the unique and evolving city that is Melbourne – a city where modern architecture and design is juxtaposed with heritage buildings reflecting Australia’s cultural history. Conference organizers will provide visitors with a unique experience by incorporating aspects of the exciting city into the technical program. The dynamic and spectacular new developments like Federation Square, the Melbourne Docklands and Southbank will add to the culture and social activities of iCEER 2007. Victoria University has four of its eleven campuses located in the heart of the city - close to Southbank and Federation Square and the center of the city life. The University faculties will also be used to their full potential throughout the conference.
Melbourne is one of Australia’s most popular destinations for business events– and the host to many International conferences, sporting events and art, music and comedy festivals.
